Saturday, June 21 is the 10th International Yoga Day in honor of the ancient physical, mental and spiritual discipline that an estimated two billion people worldwide practice in one form or another. The theme for this year’s Day is “Yoga for Self and Society”.
Yoga is a transformative practice that represents the harmony of mind and body, the balance between thought and action, and the unity of restraint and fulfillment. It integrates the body, mind, spirit, and soul, offering a holistic approach to health and well-being.

The United Nations, in December 2014, proclaimed June 21 as an annual day to recognize the universal appeal and practice of Yoga, which in ancient Sanskrit, means to unite or join. Yoga symbolizes the union of body and consciousness, a philosophy that originated in India about 5,000 years ago. The original goals of yoga were to promote spiritual growth and to learn to master one’s physical and mental body.
